Queen Elizabeth Touches Somebody!

This is actually a thrilling event. Anglo-Saxon and American societies are among the least tactile on earth. And people are hurting because of it. Infants who respond so positively to touch do not somehow outgrow their need for tactile experience as they grow older. Most American adults are touch-starved. Indeed, if your tactile contact with other human beings is limited to sexual encounters with one other human, you are among the starving. And while you may be paralyzed with embarrassment at the thought of touching another human being, the rest of the world walks hand-in-hand and embraces in the street.

There’s nothing “astounding” about breaking the tactile ice that separates us needlessly. Lovers can certainly enhance their lives with massage, but you don’t have to be romantically involved to touch another human being. I get letters from people who credit massage with saving their lives. Indeed, if you’re struggling with hypertension, if you’re a recovering stroke victim or if you’re simply trying to relax without resorting to drugs, massage can quite literally become a lifesaver.

Massage is one of the great pleasures in life. If you’ve been too embarrassed to try it, look to the courageous British Queen. She too needs to reach out and touch somebody.

Testing for tension

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments

No need to discuss tension during a massage; a simple test will tell you all you need to know. Press down gently on your partner’s jaw. If her mouth opens easily, she’s relaxed. If not, circle with your fingertips on the back of her neck and across the shoulders.

Then try the tension test again. p 35 tension test2.jpg

The massage gift

Friday, November 14th, 2008 | Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Have you ever considered giving your lover an experience instead of an object during the holiday season? Why not give a massage? It’s easy, even if you’ve never tried it before, and it wont cost you anything. The moment you begin massaging, your partner will understand that no gift could possibly be more personal.

Massage provides both profound relaxation and drugless relief from stress, even pain. Afterward, a delightful physical high will last for hours, even days.

And when your partner remembers that great feeling, you will come to mind.

Where does stress come from?

Monday, November 10th, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments

In massage we think of stress as a physical, not a mental problem. Masseurs recognize that the “after work blues,” like other stress-related complaints, originates in the body, not the mind. Indeed, once you eliminate the physical manifestations of stress with massage, a host of “emotional” problems begin to disappear.
